Book review stop! Today I’m delighted to be the host for Reclaiming His Rights, an erotica novel written by Elena Nix.
First thing first, let me thank the author for providing me with an e-copy of this book. Much obliged *hat tip*
MEET THE BOOK

A careless mistake convinced Jason that for his wife’s sake, he had to abandon the Dominant/submissive aspect of their marriage. Now, he realizes that giving up Lila’s submission was an even bigger mistake. After months of believing he rejected her, she won’t even talk about it. He’s determined to reclaim her, but he’ll have to break down her resistance before he can regain her trust.

READ MY REVIEW
Cover: Explicit!
Third and last foray into Nix’s world, and this time it’s with a straight-on erotica novel. Given the setting, I’m going to do something I seldom do and split my review into two parts: technical and personal.
Why’s that? Because as I already mentioned, my personal tastes lean away from 100% erotica, but that doesn’t mean a book is less worthy. Reviewing a story by describing only what I liked (or didn’t) for reasons is a respectable approach; one I don’t subscribe to.
Reclaiming His Rights delves deep into BDSM, which is the core of the relationship between Jason and Lila. Something went wrong in the past, causing Jason to put a stop to their D/s dynamics. It’s been a hard decision to make, and Lila begrudges him for that. The plot is simple, straightforward, and centered on their reconnection which involves a lot of sex.
From a personal standpoint, Reclaiming His Rights reads somewhat weak because it has very little plot. If you’re interested in all-action erotica, go for it right now. If you’re looking for a little more substance to go with your smut, then this book might not be for you. Nix is a talented writer, so the chapters don’t turn out as monotonous as it happens with some other erotica novels, even if there are structure repetitions interspersed through the pages.
From a technical standpoint instead, the only flaw of this book has to do with the omniscient POV. Making an omniscient work is hard to begin with, and Reclaiming His Rights is just too short to support it; the issue with this POV is that it gives away everything. There is no mystery, nothing the reader has to guess or get wrong because they’re already in the characters’ heads. Sticking to one of the MCs would have given the plot more depth.
The lack of secondary characters is a plus here—same reason, the shortness, and I’m glad Nix didn’t introduce unnecessary elements in her story.
All in all, Reclaiming His Rights is an enjoyable book, just a bit too green when compared to the other ones.
3 stars on GR.
MEET THE AUTHOR

Elena Nix is an author of erotic fiction. A lifetime love of literature and a very naughty mind proved to be the perfect combination for elevated erotica. Her imagination has some dark twists and frequently, her books do, too.
When she’s not wrangling wayward characters or taming twisted plots, her favorite place to be is curled up on the couch with her assortment of dogs, cats, and one husband, writing stories on her laptop that would make a succubus blush.
