I love me some historical fiction, hm? (‘nooo, really?’ Yeah, really :P)
Thing is, history has always fascinated me. When I was a wee lil thing, one of my favorite stories was Fabiola; I received The Citadel for my – uh, ninth? tenth? – birthday and I dived into it headfirst, and damn you, Andrew, how could you?; the Grail Quest saga and The Onyx came along, then the Magdeburg saga, then–
Uh. You get my gist, I guess. History = ❤
So, when I saw how Taking on a World of Words was hosting a 2021 challenge called When are you reading? my brain went yay.gif in zero point three.
The long and the short of it:
Read one book from each of twelve time periods. It’s up to the reader where a book lies. You can do it based on publication date or setting, whatever you want. Feel free to switch it up, too.
The time periods are:
- Pre 1300
- 1300-1499
- 1500-1699
- 1700-1799
- Dogwood Crossing, by S. Frye
- 1800-1899
- Civil War Life, by J. Sharer
- The Savage Instinct, by M.M. DeLuca
- The Champagne Widow, by H. Fripp
- 1900-1919
- 1920-1939
- The Wasteland, by H. Jameson
- 1940-1959
- 1960-1979
- 1980-1999
- 2000-Present
- Red Hail, by J. Killen
- The Future
By pure, total coincidence I already have 3 ARC books that would fill up 3 different spots 😀
Thank you again for hosting this, Sam! It’s going to be a fun ride.
…Read on!
